In The Works:

Woah, it's been quite a while since I've posted here, which is not an indication of lack of work, but rather the opposite. Over the past little while I've filmed commercials for Breakfast Television, Apprenticeship Manitoba and an anti-drunk driving campeign, as well as done the prep work for what is coming up now: Theatre by the River is producing George Bernard Shaw's Saint Joan, which I will be acting in, as well as two upcoming Fringe plays: My own "Life In a Box" and Joseph Aragon's new musical "Bloodless: The Trial of Burke and Hare". Anyway, I'm just catching you up: More information soon!
Fringe Projects

So, another Winnipeg Fringe draw has come and gone and once again, Stupid Gumball Dispenser productions has been successfully drawn. This means that my newest one man show, Life in a Box will premiere this July in Winnipeg. However, I've also entered into the Edmonton Fringe and the Victoria Fringe- I'm currently sitting on the waiting list for both. My hope is that things will work out and I'll be touring this year, but I guess we'll have to see what shakes out in the next few months.
Also, I have no idea why the font sizes are all wonky. Lord if I only knew.
Book of Legends

The wait is over! I can finally cross "be in a video game" off my life list. Whoo!
For those of you interested, a while ago I did some voice over work for a project called The Book of Legends for a Canadian casual games company called Gogii Games. The project was a lot of fun, working with Paul at Dacapo Productions as well as fellow Winnipeg actor Melanie Dahling.
If you're interested in trying out the game, you can click on the link here to download a free hour-long trial. It's a pretty simple affair, a Hidden Object game (think Where's Waldo or Eye Spy on your computer) but I think the whole project is a pretty decent package. Although apparently my voice acting is annoying, if the user reveiws on Gamezeebo are to be belived.
(One annoying thing- After finishing the game, there are no credits. Obviously I'd like to see my work credited, but it's also a shame for the many other people involved in the creation of the game. Really? No credits at all?)
Wrap Up

So it has been a while since I've posted here, but I have been keeping busy. Billy Bishop was a great success, with two strong reviews from Uptown and The Uniter. For those of you too lazy to click on the links (or if, god forbid, they should stop working) here are some choice quotes:
"...Brent Hirose is pleasingly adaptable, playing 17 different roles in the show, including a sweet Everyman touch as Billy"
"...entertainingly honest and heartfelt..."
"Hirose and pianist Patrick Keenan make a remarkable team on stage."
"...an absolute smash."
"****/*****"
Huge personal kudos out to Patrick for bringing his A game and making this show (his first!) a fantastic peice of theatre. By far the best thing show I've had the pleasure to participate in. And now comes the long cold winter....
